Total expenditures
Preliminary expenditures for the 2024 fiscal year totaled €76.9 million. Due to higher expenditures for our projects and higher costs in general, expenditures in 2024 were €1.5 million more than the year before. Since its inception, the Bertelsmann Stiftung has made ca. €2 billion available for nonprofit activities.
Program expenditures
In its 2024 fiscal year, the Bertelsmann Stiftung invested €41.3 million directly in its program activities, an increase of €2.7 million over the previous year.
Affiliated nonprofit institutions
In 2024, the Bertelsmann Stiftung’s contributions to affiliated nonprofit institutions decreased by approximately €2.1 million from the previous year to €15.3 million. The main reason for the reduction was the endowment made to the Liz Mohn Foundation in 2023, which largely eliminated the need for ongoing funding for this foundation as of 2024.
