The Transformation Thinkers network is a forum for strategic reflection and cross-regional, interdisciplinary collaboration on good governance and democratic change. In a series of meetings initiated by the Bertelsmann Stiftung and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in 2003, more than 150 young leaders who are shaping change in their countries have enhanced their strategic orientation and problem-solving capacities

The quality of democracy, market economy and governance is declining worldwide. It is at its lowest level since 2004 - when the Bertelsmann Stiftung's Transformation Index (BTI) was first published.
