Democracy once had it easier. Its global influence is declining, social conflicts are hardening, and trust in state institutions is eroding. At the same time, people are demanding more participation and a stronger sense of community. What can be done? Concepts for renewing democracy must address the fault lines that define our time. In the age of AI, both state and society need to embrace greater openness to cooperation and a new culture of conflict and compromise.

New Democracy

Democracy is under stress. Social and technological changes require systemic adjustments. To protect democracy, we need to rethink it. We show how our political institutions can become more resilient, digital and inclusive. This requires new discourse spaces and a changed culture of participation in politics and administration.

Diskurs und Partizipation

Demokratie lebt von konstruktivem Streit, breiter Beteiligung und tragfähigen Kompromissen. Doch gesellschaftliche Fragmentierung, digitale Kommunikation und neue KI-Dynamiken erschweren den demokratischen Austausch. Mit dem Projekt "Diskurs und Partizipation" entwickeln wir neue Wege, um gute Diskurse zu ermöglichen, Teilhabe auch digital voranzubringen und Beteiligung institutionell zu verankern.
