Description

Europe wants greater digital independence – but what do people expect it to deliver? An EU-wide survey finds that only 49% are familiar with the term “digital sovereignty”, yet 72% consider European control over key digital technologies important. Two-thirds would switch to European alternatives if they performed as well as the services they use today. The policy brief “CTRL + ALT + Europe?” explores the expectations behind these figures and explains why Europe needs technological capabilities, transparent and trustworthy digital infrastructure, and a clearer public narrative.
