A just transition to a new economy is pivotal. A just transition is essential for fostering regional cohesion and reducing economic disparities between and across member states. A fairer, more inclusive economy is not only possible, it is also necessary for Europe’s long-term resilience. At the same time, young people today live a striking paradox. They’re among the most affected by economic inequality. Yet they are also among the most powerful drivers of change. Across Europe, they are challenging the status quo, holding decision-makers accountable, and pioneering bold, disruptive solutions to help us adapt to this economic transition. Young changemakers aren’t just responding to the future economy – they’re helping lead the way.
Your voice to shape the future of the economy
We’re thrilled to share the launch of The Future Economy Study 2025. It is a unique initiative ex-ploring how young changemakers across Europe are contributing to a more just, sustainable, and inclusive economy. This is not just another survey—it’s engaging, reflective, and built with changemakers in mind. By taking part, young leaders will have the chance to share their perspectives on their roles, challenges, and contributions within the evolving economic landscape—and help inform funders, ecosystem players, and policymakers across the region.
If you’re a young changemaker aged 14–35 and based in or working across Europe actively leading or co-leading an initiative that addresses social or environmental challenges, particularly in relation to economic justice, inclusion, sustainability, or innovation, we would like to invite you to take participate in our study.
Participate in the study now: https://thepossibilists.org/futureeconomy
Time Commitment: ±15 min

About the study
The Future Economy Study 2025 aims to provide a nuanced view of how changemakers in Europe envision and contribute to a sustainable and inclusive economic future. It will spotlight their roles, lived experiences, and the challenges they face, while highlighting their contributions to economic transformation. Rather than repeating what’s already been studied, this research will build on existing work (e.g., OECD study on youth-led social enterprises, Social Enterprise Monitor, study on reinventing prosperity by Generation Climate Europe).
The Future Economy Study 2025 is co-designed by Bertelsmann Stiftung, EIB Institute, WU Social Entrepreneurship Center, young changemakers, and The Possibilists alliance members. It combines engaging quantitative and qualitative questions that are optimised for meaningful reflection and high response completion.
We hope the result will serve as the groundwork for bringing together key ecosystem stakeholders across Europe, offering data-driven insights to inspire collective action
