In a dynamic culture world, which is more and more influenced by globalization and digitization, young singing talents don't have an easy way. The way to opera stages becomes more and more difficult. The NEUE STIMMEN builds bridges over borders.

Every two years the Bertelsmann Stiftung organizes worldwide pre elimination rounds on six continents for the NEUE STIMMEN. About 1.000 young talents use this offer, which is unique within the international music scene. The best singers qualify for the final round in Gütersloh, where they can present their skills in front of a high ranking jury, intendants and agents as well as representatives of the music industry - in front of an audience and with an orchestra.

More than a competition

Since 1987 the Bertelsmann Stiftung hosts the NEUE STIMMEN to find young opera talents, to support them and to open up ways into national and international careers. Beside that we want to keep the classic music tradition.

By now the singing competition is renowned as one of the most important talent exchanges for the opera business. For many young artists it was the start of a successful career on international opera stages.

Cautious requiring and encouraging

The NEUE STIMMEN offer the singers individual support for further career steps. Even while the contest runs an international ranked expert jury, experienced pianists and a movement coach are guarantee for cautious requiring and encouraging

With the master classes the Bertelsmann Stiftung offers the young singers a sustain career accompaniment. Next to vocal techniques, the right breathing or the musical development of an aria also the creation of an application, the choreography of an performance, the contact to agencies or intendants are taught. That is what the training staff imparts in the master classes. Focused and career enhancing.
