Since October 2017, Miriam Kosmehl has been working as Senior Expert in the Europe Program of the Bertelsmann Stiftung, focusing on Eastern Europe. Previously, she headed the Ukraine and Belarus Office of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom for five years. Before that, she spent nine years as a project manager and consultant for the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in the field of legal and judicial reform and a total of three years as an executive assistant to the Chairman of the Board at Deutsche Bank Moscow and rule-of-law officer with the OSCE in Warsaw. She began her professional career at the European Human Rights Foundation in Brussels managing European Commission programs in the Balkans. A fully qualified lawyer, she holds a Second State Examination from the Düsseldorf Regional Court and a First State Examination from the University of Freiburg im Breisgau, as well as a masters degree in law specializing in international law and international economic law from Utrecht University.
