Global tech companies are making increasing advances into the healthcare sector. Their business activities cover an enormous range. Some companies, especially in the USA and China, are becoming providers of healthcare services themselves. Due to their innovation capabilities, these "tech giants" represent a great opportunity for the digital transformation of public healthcare systems, on the one hand. On the other hand, the sometimes monopolistic market power of the digital corporations harbors considerable risks, for example in the use of data or equal access to medical services. Politics and society must find an agreement on how digital companies can best be included in the existing healthcare sector while at the same time preserving the principle of solidarity. The study shows possible solutions to this problem.
