Our new study “Technological capabilities and the twin transition in Europe” maps the opportunities for regional collaboration to build the technologies of the future. We identify which regions have high levels of complementary capabilities to combine their strengths and develop new twin transition technologies. Cooperation across regional and national borders can foster economic growth and, ultimately, economic cohesion in Europe. What are current obstacles for more collaboration between European regions and countries? What can policymakers do to help realize regions’ untapped technological potential? And how can the EU achieve the twin transition without leaving behind regions? As part of The State of the Union Conference organized by the European University Institute (EUI), we hosted an expert panel on May 4th, 2023 to help answer these questions.
