Upgrade Democracy

In the project 'Upgrade Democracy,' the Bertelsmann Foundation is working on solutions to effectively counter disinformation and strengthen democracy in the digital space. With our activities we build bridges between diverse, international actors and disseminate solutions that successfully counter disinformation in their respective contexts and/or innovatively use digital tools to strengthen democracy. We provide impulses on how digital platforms can be designed for the common good, analyze how politics can deal with the future challenges of digital technologies for democracy together with experts and implement trainings to enhance media literacy for citizens. Furthermore we are looking for good-practice approaches internationally and will be awarding the Reinhard Mohn Prize on the topic of countering disinformation and strengthening democracy.
