The documentary "Uncivil War. US Elections Under Siege" explores three factors eroding democracy in the United States: gerrymandering – the manipulation of election district boundaries for political purposes –, voter suppression, and disinformation. The film unravels a web of threats to American elections, separates truth from fiction, and exposes a hidden war against democracy itself.
Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion with the filmmaker and special guests for a preview of the upcoming U.S. election:
Oliver Grimm, European Correspondent and former U.S. Correspondent, Die Presse (Austria)
Ashley Oleson, State Director, League of Women Voters of Maryland
Tony Silberfeld, Director Transatlantic Relations, Bertelsmann Foundation (Washington, DC)
Moderator:
Jürgen Noack, Head of Liaison Office, Bertelsmann Stiftung (Brussels)
The online event will take place on Tuesday, October 27th, 2020, from 16:00 to 17:45 Central European Time. Due to technical difficulties, we had to postpone the event which was originally scheduled for October 22nd. If you would like to join in, please register here.
