Eleventh NEUE STIMMEN Master Class concludes with gala concert

Thirteen young opera singers from twelve nations took to the stage on Saturday evening for the concert concluding the 2016 NEUE STIMMEN Master Class. The performers had spent the previous week working intensively with internationally renowned instructors on their vocal technique, stage presence and personal development.

The festive concert, held in the foyer of the Bertelsmann Stiftung, was preceded by a busy week: Under the artistic directorship of Maestro Gustav Kuhn, a team of experienced artists and instructors worked with the up-and-coming singers on their artistic abilities, while also providing advice on topics such as self-management and career planning.

“What is important is not only discovering young talents, but also advising and supporting them over the long term. That also allows us to help them develop further and pave the way for a successful career.”

Liz Mohn, president of NEUE STIMMEN

The goal of NEUE STIMMEN is to provide ongoing support for young opera singers. This year, for the first time, viewers from around the world were able to experience how the master class achieves that goal, since four sessions were streamed online. Anyone who would like to take a look at this engaging event can still do so here: Roberto Scandiuzzi (bass), John Norris (movement coach), Boris Orlob (agent and career coach) Michelle Breedt (mezzo-soprano)
