Their voice gets through only in such cases as discussing sanctions towards Russia or planning NATO training on their territory. The general perception of the opinions of the Baltic state societies towards Eastern policy is that they are very anti-Russian. It is not asked how far a clear position of the Lithuanian, Latvian or Estonian president or minister in Brussels might bring him or her problems at home. Meanwhile, the societies in Latvia and Estonia are much more divided than that of societies in other EU countries.
