Our radar study on social cohesion in Germany 2017 uses a multidimensional model. A total of nine sub-dimensions with their associated empirical indicators can be combined to form an overall index of social cohesion.

Our Reinhard Mohn Prize 2018 global search for best practices in Living Diversity – Shaping Society brought us to Mechelen, Belgium, which hosts the Samen Inburgeren project. Aiming to facilitate and foster intercultural relationships through the project, the city can boast of having helped spark 257 such friendships in the first five years of its existence. The video (in Dutch only) offers insights as to how Samen Inburgeren helps Mechelen residents live in diversity.

In the course of our global research for the Reinhard Mohn Prize 2018 “Living Diversity – Shaping Society” we became acquainted with Raval, a district in the old town of Barcelona. Nearly 50,000 people live here in a space of around one square kilometer. The district’s character has been shaped by immigration since the 19th century. Its residents originate from more than 40 countries.

In the course of our global research for the Reinhard Mohn Prize 2018 “Living Diversity – Shaping Society” we became acquainted with the Tot Raval Foundation. Since its founding in Barcelona’s Raval district in 2001, the Foundation has worked to empower the community in diversity. The video showcases the neighborhood’s vibrant community life and the Foundation’s work in this regard.
