Short Vita
Christina-Marie Juen is Senior Expert for Democracy. She studied Political Science with a focus on Comparative Politics at the University of Salzburg. After completing her studies, she received her doctorate at the University of Oldenburg on the challenges to democratic representation posed by populist actors. Before joining the Bertelsmann Stiftung, Christina-Marie Juen worked as a Research Associate at TU Darmstadt and as Interim Professor for the Political System of Germany at the University of Oldenburg. Her research addresses the challenges of democratic political representation, focusing on both voters and political elites. Her work emphasizes political attitudes and voting behavior, the impact of populism, and attitudes toward democratic institutions. At the local level, she examines party competition as well as the success of independent local lists.
