On September 5, the Smart Country project partnered with the city of Münster to organize a workshop on the topic of open data. Participants collaborated to identify the potential that local-level open data offer nonprofit organizations.

Publication: Sample Data Catalogue: Which open data are Germany’s communities making accessible?

A number of cities and towns in the state of North Rhine–Westphalia are leading the way in Germany in the area of open data. They have been publishing their data for a number of years. Until now, however, no overview has been available of which information is released as open data by Germany’s communities. A sample data catalogue can shed light on this situation. A prototype for North Rhine–Westphalia is now available.

Career cards : Career cards in career counseling

People with migrant backgrounds still suffer significant disadvantages with respect to educational and professional opportunities. However, many newcomers have valuable experience and qualifications. In cooperation with various partners, we have developed competence cards for the immigration counseling in order to speed up the recognition and utilization of such qualifications and experience. These cards are now available under a CC BY SA license.

People with migrant backgrounds still suffer significant disadvantages with respect to educational and professional opportunities. However, many newcomers have valuable experience and qualifications. Qualification: MYSKILLS – New test makes professional knowledge visible

No qualification, no job – that's how it is for many people in Germany, even if they have already been working for years. But how can refugees and the unemployed be integrated more easily into the employment market without a professional qualification? That's where MYSKILLS comes in – a test which we have developed hand-in-hand with the Federal Employment Agency.

SIB for more prevention: New pilot project to strengthen family assistance

Providing better, quicker and more tailored assistance to families: this is the goal of the pilot project by the district of Osnabrück called “Stärkung von Prävention in den Hilfen zur Erziehung” (Strengthening prevention in family assistance programmes), which was officially launched today.

Singing Competition: Svetlina Stoyanova and Cho ChanHee win 2017 NEUE STIMMEN International Singing Competition

The final is over: Mezzo-Soprano Svetlina Stoyanova from Bulgaria and Bass Cho ChanHee from South Korea are the winners of the 17. International Singing Competition NEUE STIMMEN. In a high-class final in Stadthalle Gütersloh they prevailed against strong competitors.
