SPOTLIGHT Healthcare: OpenNotes

From January 2021, the electronic patient health record (EHR) will enable citizens in Germany to have their health data and documents stored in a central location. However, the law does not provide for the digital transfer of the notes that doctors make about their patients (such as the patient's medical history, preferences, agreements on how to proceed). However, two thirds of the population would like to have exactly this digital access to visit notes. It facilitates the exchange of information for patients and doctors. The current SPOTLIGHT Healthcare summarizes the most important findings of the current study "Accessing medical records - implementing OpenNotes in Germany and the opportunites this entails" (only available in German) and presents measures for implementation.
