Description

Germany is an attractive destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) from China and ranked third as host country of Chinese FDI in the European Union. Motives for Chinese companies to invest in Germany include access to the German and the European market, a highly skilled workforce, the acquisition of key technology and the well-reputed label  “Made in China 2025”.

Its highly developed status and its lead in many future-oriented key technologies makes Germany a focus of China’s Going-Global-Strategy, which was announced by the Chinese government in 2000. Germany’s industrial structure also presents a good fit for China’s new industrial policy strategy “Made in China 2025”.

In light of all this, this study aims to analyze the challenges and opportunities of Chinese FDI from a business as well as from an economic perspective.
