Corporate Operations

Corporate Operations supports the work done by the Bertelsmann Stiftung through its Finance & Tax, Controlling, Human Resources, Information Technology and Services departments. Its mission is to ensure effective reporting and compliance structures, coordinate financial and human resources, facilitate a smooth functioning of the foundation’s operations, and constantly improve quality and cost-effectiveness. It focuses primarily on governance and compliance, and supporting the Executive Board and the foundation’s managers in their strategic planning, controlling and development activities. It also provides project-related services for the foundation’s ongoing programs.

Total expenditures

Expenditures for the 2016 fiscal year totaled € 72.7 million (preliminary figure). Since its inception, the Bertelsmann Stiftung has invested some € 1.35 billion in nonprofit work.

Program expenditures

In its 2016 fiscal year, the Bertelsmann Stiftung invested € 55.6 million directly in its program activities. That was € 1.8 million more than in the previous year.
