Our authors and target groups
Our authors are specialists at the Bertelsmann Stiftung or renowned academic institutions in Germany and beyond. In addition to the general public, our publications address German policy leaders at the federal and state levels, experts in the economic and social sectors, as well as journalists and students.
Our history
Verlag Bertelsmann Stiftung was established at the end of 1985 to increase awareness of the topics addressed by the foundation. Reinhard Mohn, the Bertelsmann Stiftung’s founder, had close ties to the publishing industry and strongly supported the creation of a publishing house for the foundation. We celebrated our 30th anniversary in 2016.

Enclosed in your shipment you will find an invoice including bank transfer slip and bank details.
Our e-books and audio downloads are available at all major online stores. A limited number of links to online stores is displayed next to the relevant title on our website.
All books (print) and DVDs/CDs can be ordered at any bookstore in Germany.
What does shipping cost?
The charge for each shipment is €3.00. This applies to all shipments within the EU.
Different shipping charges apply to all other countries. The charge appears in a country list displayed during the ordering process (shopping cart). Charges for countries outside of Europe are calculated by the weight of the shipment and the shipping method.
We recommend ordering our books from a bookstore near you. That allows you to avoid the shipping charges and you will be supporting your local bookseller.
How long does it take to receive an order?
Orders are sent by post (DHL) and usually take 5 to 7 business days. If it is urgent, please call us directly or select the e-book option.
How can I order a press or review copy?
Copies for the press or for reviews can be ordered at any time by contacting us by e-mail. Please send your inquiry to: sabine.reimann@bertelsmann-stiftung.de.
Inquiries for specimen copies, which we provide only in exceptional cases, should also be sent to sabine.reimann@bertelsmann-stiftung.de.
Can I submit a manuscript for publication by Verlag Bertelsmann Stiftung?
Unfortunately, we do not accept outside manuscripts for publication. Verlag Bertelsmann Stiftung is a special-purpose publisher and, in accordance with its bylaws, may only publish manuscripts that are written expressly for projects carried out by the Bertelsmann Stiftung.
