Position Paper

”Berlin Declaration on Validation of Prior Learning” adopted at 3rd VPL Biennale

On 7th and 8th of May, practitioners, experts, stakeholders and policy makers involved in Validation of Prior Learning (VPL) came together in Berlin for their third biannual meeting. The 300 participants coming from 40 countries exchanged good practices, discussed VPL policies and worked together to shape and adopt the Berlin Declaration. It formulates an international benchmark for robust and effective VPL-systems. The Berlin Declaration addresses policy makers and defines standards in six policy fields from organisational arrangements, financing and instruments and procedures, to support structures, post-validation pathways and legal foundations. Award

The 3rd global VPL-Prize goes to best practices from Norway, Germany and Italy

At the 3rd Biennale on Validation of Prior Learning, an international jury awarded the VPL-Prize in the categories Products, Procedures and Policies. The competition counted 32 submissions from 20 countries of 4 continents. The winners show how to establish a branch-wide competence vocabulary (Norway), how to use validation for the integration of refugees (Germany) and how to create a common standard among validation practitioners (Italy). read more
