The End of Panda Politics?

Germany enjoys a special relationship with China – for now. The more political and economic competition that takes place between them, the more Germany will have to prepare for conflicts. Is Bangladesh on the Brink of Civil War?

Political violence in Bangladesh has reached a new peak with the terrorist attack in Dhaka on July 1. Our colleagues from the Bertelsmann Tranformation Index (BTI) are exploring selected countries' developments, both worrying and encouraging, in this new series. For this first instance, Roma Rajpal Weiß, a freelance journalist and blogger from India, currently based in Bonn, Germany, writes about the "War of the Queens" in Bangladesh. Asia's Rise in the New World Trade Order

The negotiations on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) could be regarded as an attempt by the West to mitigate Asia's rise and to pioneer deep standards for a new world trade order. Meanwhile, three mega-regional trade deals involving Asian countries are currently under negotiation. This study by Bertelsmann Stiftung's Global Economic Dynamics project sheds light on the economic effects of these agreements on Asian countries. Read our colleagues' new study here
