Left Behind or Opting Out? This question is often discussed in relation to NEETs. NEET stands for "Not in Education, Employment, or Training." At the end of 2023, there were approximately 626,000 NEETs between the ages of 15 and 24 in Germany. Especially in light of the skilled labor shortage, these young people often face prejudice. The media refers to a "Generation NEET" and repeatedly asks what can be done to bring this group into work or education.
