Our founder, Reinhard Mohn – the anniversary of whose death we commemorated in 2019 for the 10th time – said as the new millennium approached: “International cooperation and peacemaking are the order of the day.” That statement has lost none of its timeliness. The Bertelsmann Stiftung therefore used numerous events in 2019 to promote international dialogue. A greater focus was also put on two topics: climate change and the sustainable use of resources. They are key elements in the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By publishing our fifth report on the implementation of these goals, we helped ensure yet again that they will continue to guide the international debate.
Last year, we invested €90 million in our nonprofit activities. Our 2019 Annual Report provides an overview of the resources we committed to our work, and information about the topics we focused on in 2019.
