Prof. Elisabeth Pott
Director of the Federal Center for Health Education (BzgA)
Prof. Elisabeth Pott studied medicine in Bonn and Kiel from 1967 to 1974, receiving her license two years later. She worked as a public health physician until 1981 and also served as an official at the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs starting in 1978.
In 1981, Prof. Pott became head of the Health Promotion unit at the Ministry of Social Affairs in Lower Saxony. Five years later, in 1986, she was appointed Director-General of the Federal Center for Health Education (BZgA), a position she still holds. Under her leadership, the center launched the national AIDS education campaign "Gib AIDS keine Chance" (Don't Give AIDS a Chance). A year before, the center had begun cooperating with and supporting the Deutsche AIDS-Hilfe, a national self-help organization.
Prof. Elisabeth Pott holds a lectureship in social medicine at the University of Hannover (Faculty of Medicine).
