2014 NEUE STIMMEN Lied Master Class comes to a successful conclusion

At the end of the final concert for the third NEUE STIMMEN Lied Master Class on Friday evening in Gütersloh Theater, the standing ovation said it all. Four young singers had given compelling performances, singing lieder by Franz Schubert and Richard Strauss. On Sunday they presented the same selection of songs to an audience at the Konzerthaus in Berlin.

Viviane Reding joins Bertelsmann Stiftung Board of Trustees

Viviane Reding, 63, former Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner responsible for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship has been appointed to the Bertelsmann Stiftung Board of Trustees. Her term of office in the Gütersloh-based foundation's supervisory and controlling body begins on January 1, 2015, and initially expires in 2017.

Twelve singers on their way to an international career

Twelve singers from eleven countries worked intensively with instructors and accompanists during the week of the 2014 NEUE STIMMEN Master Class, the tenth time the event was held. Under the guidance of Gustav Kuhn, Cheryl Studer, Francisco Araíza and John Norris, they spent the week perfecting their interpretative abilities and stage presence.
