Bertelsmann Foundation North America
The Bertelsmann Foundation, established in 2008, is the North American arm of the Bertelsmann Stiftung. We are a driver of social change. We are committed to promoting the freedom of individuals and societies, and international understanding. The Bertelsmann Foundation serves as a Euro-American bridge, communicating and showcasing best practices in foreign, economic and social policy to audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. We believe that challenges confronted on one side of the ocean are likely to arise on the other, and that Europeans and Americans can learn from each other's approaches.

Calls for Western military intervention in terms of creating a no-fly zone contrast with warnings of "mission creep" in a situation that remains chaotic and unpredictable. In this op-ed published by Bloomberg News, Bertelsmann Executive Director Annette Heuser argues that the situation requires Western action - and only the US is in a position to take it.

"A New Era of World Politics"
New Atlanticist Podcast with Bertelsmann Foundation Executive Director Annette Heuser
The trans-Atlantic partnership has undergone significant changes in recent years. The impact of globalization has raised the importance of American and European relationships with other regions of the world. In addition, a new generation of political leaders on both sides of the ocean lacks the sentimentality that often characterized the trans-Atlantic alliance of the past. In this interview, Atlantic Council Senior Fellow Sarwar Kashmeri asks Annette Heuser about the impact of these developments on the links among countries that remain the closest of economic and security partners.
