Tips
Searching for several terms at once
Enter all the words in the search field, separated by spaces. The search function automatically links them with the logical operator "and," meaning that a message from the hit list will include all of the words entered:
Search for a phrase
Enter the title and complete text of all words in quotation marks:
"Reinhard Mohn" = search for messages about Reinhard Mohn.
Using placeholders / searching for variations of a term
Use the placeholder * anywhere in a word:
"Demograph*" returns messages in which the words "demographics," "demographic" or "demographical" appear. The asterisk replaces any number of characters. Words without an ending must have an asterisk at the end. Entering "demograph" alone will result in zero hits.
If you enter "demogra*ics," however, the message search function will find the desired results regardless of spelling.
Use a question mark as a placeholder for single letters:
"Schmi?t" finds information on both "Schmidt" and "Schmitt."
Advanced search
For messages from a specific time period, enter the corresponding quarter into the Quarter selection field and the corresponding year into the Year field.
For all messages from a specific year displayed, select the year and leave the Title and Complete Text fields blank. Using the same method, all messages from a certain quarter in a given year can be displayed.
For only those messages relating to one program area the foundation, politics, society, business, education, healthcare, or culture, select it under Program Selection.
To see which messages are in one of the programs, leave the Title and Complete Text fields blank.
Starting the search To start the search, click the corresponding button.
Search results Search results are sorted according to the message date. The most recent message will appear at the beginning of the list.
