Background
Born in 1964; university studies in Theology and Philosophy in Frankfurt/Main and Bogota, and Social Sciences in Munich and at the London School of Economics; assistant at the Jesuit European Office (OCIPE) in Brussels; member of the Jesuit order active in school-based and out-of-school educational activities in Dresden, Berlin and Medellin; since 2000, member of the Bertelsmann Stiftung project "Education for Social Cohesion and Social-Mindedness," the national integration competition launched together with German President Johannes Rau and the "Semi-Autonomous School" project; as of 2006/07, director of the Center of Excellence for Democracy and Integration
