Enterprise for Health

“We are a network of European companies which feel committed to both the development and dissemination of a corporate culture based on partnership and an exemplary company health policy. We work together to develop answers to the future challenges of the world of work and therefore make a contribution to sustained economic, ecological and social development.” That is the mission statement that informs the activities carried out by the network’s members.

Enterprise for Health, the European network established in 2000, is dedicated to ensuring that health concerns are given their due in today’s work environments. The network’s 24 members all agree on the importance of promoting a corporate culture based on partnership and forward-looking corporate health policies, since the quality of employees’ performance is the key factor in ensuring a company’s success, both economically and in terms of social impact. The network carries out its work by facilitating an exchange of knowledge and experience through the development of recommendations for practice in the field. The network is a joint project of the Bertelsmann Stiftung and BKK Bundesverband, Germany’s national association of occupational health insurers.

The network’s activities focus on the developments that are transforming work environments today. The following issues have been addressed to date:

  • Development of a partnership-based corporate culture
  • Structuring working environments to reflect occupational health issues and employee needs
  • Work-time structures and new organizational forms
  • Knowledge management: Structures for addressing changes in how businesses deal with information and knowledge
  • Development of occupational-health expertise among employees
  • Structuring working environments to reflect the health needs of older workers
  • Work-life balance / Transitioning from one career phase to the next and transitioning into and out of the world of work
  • Corporate social responsibility in the local community and society at large / Integrating CSR issues into management systems and human-resources structures
