University of Witten/Herdecke establishes Reinhard Mohn Institute

With the creation of the Reinhard-Mohn-Instituts für Unternehmensführung und Corporate Governance (Reinhard Mohn Institute for Corporate Management and Corporate Governance – RMI), the University of Witten/Herdecke is honoring its long-time patron and guiding spirit, Reinhard Mohn. The late entrepreneur and philanthropist was a key supporter of the university, one of Germany's first private higher-education institutions, during its start-up phase. Mohn's ideas on corporate culture and corporate management will be further developed at the recently created research institute in accordance with the latest academic findings.

Balearic Government Honors Liz and Reinhard Mohn for Cultural Engagement

The government of the Balearic Islands has recognized Liz and Reinhard Mohn for their commitment to promoting culture. On March 1, 2010, Liz Mohn accepted the Gold Medal of the Balearic Islands from Francesc Antich i Oliver, president of the islands, before an audience of 1,500.

Reinhard Mohn Wins German Founders Award 2007

Reinhard Mohn firmly believes that creative, dedicated employees who identify with the company are the foundation for any commercial success. A bookseller by training, he brought this attitude to rebuilding C. Bertelsmann Verlag after World War II. Within three decades he had turned the medium-size family business into a globally leading media corporation. Now, Reinhard Mohn is being honored with the Deutscher Gründerpreis 2007 (German Founders Award) for this lifetime achievement.

Reinhard Mohn on 30 Years of Reform Work: "Don't wait, act!"

Thirty years ago  on February 8, 1977  Reinhard Mohn, then CEO of Bertelsmann AG, signed his name to the document that called the Bertelsmann Stiftung to life. Since then, the foundation has kept the tradition of its founder alive by dedicating itself to the common good. The foundation’s work is informed by the belief is that competition and civic engagement are key drivers of social change.

Reinhard Mohn Explorer Foundation Established

In a move to gain more reform ideas from abroad, the Bertelsmann Stiftung is establishing the Reinhard Mohn Explorer Foundation, which will be funded with one million euro per year. “We are seeking and supporting ‘pathfinders’ who recognize and respond to the need for social policy action and respond to it. We want to work with these social entrepreneurs at home and abroad,” explained Executive Board Chair Gunter Thielen at the press conference held in conjunction with the foundation's twenty-fifth anniversary.
