2005 Prize in Skilled Crafts (2005 Handwerks-Preis)
2005 Prize in Skilled Crafts: Leadership with perspective – At work, in the marketplace, in society
First prize winner was PARAVAN from Pfronstetten-Aichelau, a company that converts cars to meet the individual requirements of customers with disabilities. Company head Roland Arnold used innovative ideas to rapidly transform his tire business into the market leader in the field of vehicle conversion for the disabled. Paravan currently exports cars to 22 countries.
Bäckerei Härdtner GmbH in Neckarsulm and Schreinerei Brammertz GmbH in Aachen were also recognized. For the first time, the Bertelsmann Stiftung, the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts and impulse, the business magazine, have awarded the 2005 Craftsman Prize to three companies. These companies particularly impressed the judges with their strong social engagement, their use of creative ideas to adapt to changing markets and their corporate cultures based on partnership.
