In 2012, the Bertelsmann Stiftung celebrated 35 years of successful project work and promotion of social change. Since being launched in 1977, the Bertelsmann Stiftung has invested 1,05 billion of euros in over 800 projects. Today, it is one of the largest foundations in Germany.
In keeping with the longstanding social commitment of its founder, Reinhard Mohn († 2009), the Bertelsmann Stiftung is dedicated to serving the common good. Our work is based on a belif in the values of freedom, goodwill and social solidarity and in the effectiveness of competition.
The Bertelsmann Stiftung initiates and executes its own projects. We concentrate our efforts on areas in whcih we have expertise: improving education, creating an economic system that is fair and efficient, promoting people-centered healthcare, empowering civil society, ensuring a viable cultural future and anchoring international understanding around the globe.
