Regina Körner, new Bertelsmann Stiftung communications director

Regina Körner, 51, a consultant with international experience in journalism and corporate communications for nonprofit organizations, will assume the position of director of communications at the Bertelsmann Stiftung as of January 1, 2012.  She will succeed Karin Schlautmann, who was appointed head of the corporate communications department at Bertelsmann AG in October 2011.

Körner has an international background in journalism in Germany, the US and UK and has gathered extensive management experience heading the corporate communications departments for globally active NGOs.  She earned her master’s degree in journalism at the University of Missouri’s Columbia School of Journalism and worked for several US broadcasters in Washington, DC.

In Germany, she completed a traineeship at the Voice of Germany, and worked as a reporter and correspondent for German public broadcasters such as WDR and Voice of Germany TV before joining RTL TV, Europe’s largest commercial broadcaster, for 12 years as a reporter and program producer for n-tv and SuperRTL.

In 2008, Ms Körner left television for the nonprofit sector and served as the director of communications for the World Future Council in Hamburg and Fairtrade International in Bonn. Before signing on with the Bertelsmann Stiftung, she worked as a nonprofit management and communications consultant and business guest writer.
