Klaus-Peter Siegloch

Klaus-Peter Siegloch, born on May 15, 1946, in Hamburg, studied political science, sociology and economics, graduating in 1973 with a degree in political science. He then worked for NDR (Northern German Broadcasting Company), first as an editor of its Tagesschau program and later as an anchorman on Tagesthemen. Now he is President of the Bundesverband der Deutschen Luftverkehrswirtschaft (BDL).
From 1985 to 1987, Siegloch headed the regional politics department at the daily Hamburg Journal. In 1987 he began working at German television station ZDF. From 1987 to 1988, Siegloch was lead editor for "open-ended series and special broadcasts" in ZDF's Domestic Politics editorial department. Until 1991 he was chief editor of Domestic Politics, where he was responsible for election programming and the Politbarometer program, as well as for the shows live, länderspiegel, and blickpunkt.
For four years, from 1991 to 1995, Siegloch headed the ZDF studio in Bonn and hosted the political magazine Bonn direkt along with Peter Ellgaard. In addition, he hosted the talk show Was nun.? with Klaus Bresser. From 1993 to 1995 Siegloch was ZDF's deputy editor-in-chief, and from 1995 to 1999 he headed the ZDF studio in Washington. Following this assignment Siegloch took over as anchorman of the 7 o'clock "heute" show until 2002. Since January 2003, Klaus-Peter Siegloch has been deputy ZDF editor-in-chief, head of ZDF's news department, and host of its "heute-journal." In June 2007 he returned to the United States, where he headed up the ZDF team in Washington before becoming bureau chief in New York at the end of 2008.
In 1989 Siegloch was awarded the Herbert Quandt Media Prize for his work, and in 1998 he received the RIAS Berlin Commission television prize.
