Prof. Thomas Rauschenbach
Director and CEO of the German Youth Institute
Prof. Thomas Rauschenbach, born in 1952, studied education, sociology and psychology at the University of Tübingen. From 1980 to 1989 he served as a research associate and managing director at the Institute of Education of the University of Tübingen. In 1989 he was named professor of social education at the University of Dortmund.
From 1994 to 2002 he served as dean and deputy dean of the School of Education and Biology as well as holding the position of senator at the University of Dortmund from 1998 to 2002. From 2003 to 2005 Prof. Rauschenbach was Chairman of the Expert Commission with responsibility for the Twelfth Report on Children and Youth. Prof. Rauschenbach is serving as a member of the Consortium for the 2006 to 2010 Education Reports for Germany and has been a member of the Bertelsmann Stiftung's Expert Commission on the family since 2006.
Prof. Rauschenbach has headed the German Youth Institute since 2002 as chairman of the Executive Board and director.
