Executive Vice President, Nestlé S.A., Chief Technology Officer, Head of  Innovation, Technology and Research & Development

As executive vice president of Nestlé AG, Werner J. Bauer heads the Technical, Production, Environment, Research and Development Division. Born in 1950 in Prien, Germany, Bauer studied chemical engineering in Erlangen-Nuremberg. His professional career began in the scientific field: among other positions he has held, he was professor of Chemical Engineering at the Technical University of Hamburg and director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Food Technology & Packaging in Munich. Since 1990, Bauer has served Nestlé in different capacities - from 1998 to 2002 he worked for Nestlé South and East Africa, first as technical manager, then as executive vice-president.

Since 2003 Prof. Dr. Werner J. Bauer is member of the Board of Trustees for the Bertelsmann Foundation. Since November 2011 he is also president of the Board of Trustees.
