US and EU would significantly benefit from a transatlantic free trade agreement

A comprehensive transatlantic trade and investment partnership (TTIP) would bring the USA and the EU member countries economic growth and new jobs. These are the results of a current ifo Institute study commissioned by the Bertelsmann Foundation and released one day before the visit of US President Barack Obama in Berlin.

Beyond GDP: How countries measure social progress

Increasing gross domestic product alone is not an adequate measure of social progress. Many countries today also consider factors such as sustainability, happiness and intergenerational justice. A current Bertelsmann Stiftung study looks at seven new approaches to evaluating progress, showing that even public debate on the subject is enough to promote positive political and social change.
