International Reform Monitor: Social policy, labor market policy, industrial relations

Institute for Futures Studies, Stockholm

The Institute for Futures Studies is financed partly through government funds and partly through external grants from public and private financiers. The 9 members of the Institute's board of directors are appointed by the Government.
The secretariat of the Institute consists of six staff members, including the director of the Institute, and is collectively responsible for the Institute's activities. At present, twentyfive researchers and research assistants are at work within the framework of the research program.
The Swedish government has financed futures studies since 1973. The first institute for futures studies, the Secretariat for Futures Studies functioned as a complement to the Prime Minister's Office. In 1980, the secretariat was made a unit of the Swedish Council for Planning and Coordination of Research, and in 1987 activities were reorganized into an independent research foundation. The Institute now has its offices at No. 33 Drottninggatan in Stockholm.
